Nearly seven weeks ago, on Dec. 2, Jay Haas celebrated his 55th birthday — though, in the world of the professional golf, “celebrated” perhaps should be replaced by “mourned.” After all, according to the Champions Tour's version of actuarial tables, his prospects for winning in 2009 dropped — by .71 percent — when he blew out the candles on his birthday cake.
