Hello All,

I am new to the site and fairly new to my decision to pursue an actuarial career. I currently work for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network dealing with the various life, disability and LTC, etc. products so I have a knowledgable background about how the industry works from that end, but decided I wanted to stay in the industry but pursue a different career path. I am planning on taking the P/1 exam in May. Not going to lie I have not been to good on studying up to date but NEED to buckle down. My biggest problem right now is the ability to sit myself down to read over the study manual. I have seen that there is a DVD also available and was wondering if it was worth purchasing to supplement the manual I have. I feel like I will be more likely to view the video to kick start me into studying. If any of you have used the video I would appreciate feedback. Also, if you have the DVD and no longer need it but are considering selling it please let me know. Thanks

i used the video for P, and it definitly helped me pass.

however, i would recommend using the DVD only as it was intended - as a review seminar. the DVD is certainly not enough to pass (for most people).

So can I watch the video in conjunction with studying or should it only be watched after I have studied the material completely?

Thanks for the input

i didn't watch it until i was finished all of the material. although you could study one topic on your own, and then review that topic on the DVD. either way is up to you.

but the DVD assumes you're familiar with the material, so you should at least attempt the material on your own first.
