Strange interview procedures

just completed an "automated" interview process with towers perrin. After an online interview, in which i answered several open ended short answer type questions, I was asked to do this phone interview. I called, entered a pin, was asked questions by a computer, then it recorded my answer.

Seem strange? Anybody else heard of this?

Yeah, I've done it too. It's because they get a lot of applicants I guess plus they have everything on record/don't have to rely on their notes. It was pretty easy to get by the initial screening. Then you do an in-person interview. I've interviewed with a lot of places and TP was the only place where I had to talk to an answering machine.

well i dont think i did great on the phone screening, but slightly above average. But my responses online were very good I think, so I'm still hopeful.

Anyway, you seem to have a lot of experience in the job hunt... I just started about two weeks ago. What services did you use to search for jobs(Monster, or what???)?

2 companies contacted me through Monster and one through www.soa.org's career section. http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ is nice because you can sort by years of experience. Just remember it's not set in stone and try applying to some places where they say 2 years of experience required. Use the directory at SOA.org if you want to send direct emails to people. I got a good amount of responses just applying on company websites. If I contact a recruiter from DWSimpson do I need to pay them when i get a job? Maybe I missed that when I looked through the website.

Recruiters get paid by the company that hires you. If you end up going with another company, the recruiter gets nothing. I ended up choosing an offer that I got on my own, but my recruiter still went above and beyond what I expected him to do.

I sent in all the required information they needed on their website (D.W. Simpson) to apply for jobs after I passed my exam. One of the recruiters told me he would send me an important email to complete the process. After I called to remind the recruiter that I never received the email he assured me he would send it that day. I have yet to receive the email. It's been atleast a week since the phone call was made.

My recruiter with DW Simpson helped me very little and I rarely heard from her. She did call about 5 months after I got a job and asked how my search was going, I had to laugh. It was probably because I was looking for an entry level position and had no internship but I really don't know, she never gave me any real constructive feedback on anything. I had no problem finding a job however, so their loss. I'll probably try them again in a couple of years though, they do have a good reputation.

try S.C. International...I havent passed an exam yet but he calls me during the time the results are released and has a job waiting for me
