Hello all,
Like some others here, I too am looking to change careers and am considering a "return" to actuarial work. When I say that I mean I worked p/t in school at an insurance company, interacted with actuaries, and even passed the first exam. This was circa 1989 and the exam was mostly calculus. From what I have found thus far, that is a bit different than what is required today. I develop software at the moment but that will change in the next 18 months and I want to find out if actuarial work would be a good fit. Based on my previous "experience" I think it might.
I should add that I have a bachelors in mathematics, a masters in computer science and a long history of teaching and tutoring (both of which I quite love.) Also, in answer to some posts I have read, I am 42 and certainly do not consider myself too old to enter this field.
