Hi All, I am in the middle of preparing to sit for my first exam in September and was just wondering how many out of a possible 30 questions one needs to answer correctly in order to "pass." Is it based on a curve of total participants or is 20/30 sufficient?

THANKS

The exact % to pass varies. I saw different exam's passing % was 59%, 63%. So I would say around there, like a 65% should be the borderline. A 20/30 is 66%, so there is a good chance that'll be passing, but it's barely passing. So aim for like a 28/30, and if you messed up and get a 23/30, you are still much safer than 20/30. Not sure if i helped you but good luck!

If your test is Computer Based, the require passing marks are varies according to the questions.

And each questions carry different weight of marks.

Congratz to y'all who passed:coolman:

I'm preparing to take a CBT for exam p in september and after reading some of the discussions on questions that came on recent past P, i'm really terrified:(.

They look nothing like questions from the SOA 134 questions.
Are there instances where people actually get questions from the 134 sample or at least comparable questions, in terms of level of difficulty? because so far the questions people have been discussing look horribly complex.
I'm currently using the BBP exam P as my main book and supplementing it with Guo and making sure i master the 134. Is this sufficient preparation???

please help, Veterans of p:confused:

Mastering the 134 is sufficient. By mastering, I mean truly understanding each question, and understanding how and why you get the answer.

I thought the questions on the actual exam (May 2008) were of comparable difficulty to questions on SOA 134.

Don't be terrified. If you put some time in you will be fine on the exam. You must understand that people only post their hardest questions online. I actually was lucky enough to have one questions right off the SOA 123. Good luck in studying and stay relaxed!!
