I am currently a student with future plans to become an actuary. My English Instructor this semester would like the class to write an informative essay on our future career. She is requiring we interview someone we do not know in that career field. I pulled up a forum and saw your profile that you are an actuary. Will you be interested in doing an interview via email or a forum? If so, I can send you a list of questions that won't take up very much of your time to respond to. Look forward to hearing back from you!

Hello. I've been lokng around the forum and you seem to know many things that could guide me to the right path. I came into knowledge of the actuary profession by a serendipitous event. I'm a recent accounting graduate and after my look research, I believe that being an actuary will fit me perfectly. My plan is to take Exam P in November. I need to get some study materals but not sure where to start. I saw some reecommendation of some books by have no idea which to get. If you please prescribe anything that would help, I would be very appreciative. Thank you for your time.

Hi, I was looking around the discussion board to ask someone online who seemed to know their stuff..
My friend has P and FM completed and she is considering taking Exam 4/C in November (it is the updated exam 4/C http://www.casact.org/admissions/syllabus/ChangesC_and_MFE.pdf ). She would like to know if the material covering 4/C heavily depends on material in either MFE or MLC, since she hasn't taken either one yet.
From your experience in studying Exam 4/C, did the material in the exam or text(s) or guides assume alot from either MFE or MLC?

Thank you so much for your time.

Biography
Once upon a time, I was allegedly born ... but I don't remember much about it. I think it was a Friday. About a year later, I turned 1. About a year after that, I turned 2; a year later, I turned 3, roughly a year after that I was 4, ... well, you get the idea.

And then ... there was that episode in 1987. That's really all I can say about it; few people know about '87 - if more people knew someone would probably start asking questions about that incident in '73 - and inevitably people would figure out it was all related to that one time back in '55 ... and we DO NOT want to talk about '55 if there's any chance someone's around with a Raggedy Andy doll, a can of corn, a 3/8" socket wrench, and a Reese's Cup.

So, after college I decided to make my mark on the world. Unfortunately, the police were watching - but I managed to blame it all on the pizza delivery guy by saying he was framing people with lark's vomit. Eventually, I landed here ... for a time and a time more.
