companies in Miami and Washington D.C.

Hi,
I am graduating college soon, and I am visting Miami and Washington D.C. to look at potential cities in which to live. Do any of you know companies that I should get in touch with to talk to while I am in the area?
Thanks,
DS

Download to the Actuarial Training Programs Guide from the SOA and contact companies in the cities that interest you - http://www.beanactuary.org/find/atp.cfm

You should also go to the Society of Actuaries Membership directory and search companies by cities and contact people in those cities of interest to you - https://directory.soa.org/solutionsite/

If you're not tied to Miami or DC for personal reasons, wouldn't it make more sense if you look at companies and then move to their location.

Hi. I have a question. I looked at the directory, and i am not sure if it would be appropriate if i just email my resume, and my cover letter to the member of SOA instead of applying through the HR? Thanks

Double your chances, do both. Sometimes resumes get lost in the shuffle in HR. Going to the decision maker is "usually" better....unless you have already spoken to HR.
