    Debating best material for MFE

I attempted MFE using BPP during may 2009. Safe to say that i dont have high expectations and am not very happy because the material i used was very average as compared to the actual exam.

I have been reading debates over certain material is better than others so i just wanted to post a new thread to ask the most simple but extremely critical question:

To those who have passed, are hopeful of passing and/or have attempted MFE, which material is the best material for MFE
    I BPP
    II Actex
    III ASM
    IV Actuarial Brew
    V Derivative markets

    Appreciate Feedbacks!!!

I used ASM and came out with confidence, and passed accordingly. But I always believe we have to check which kind of manual suits us. For me, I want concise notes then get myself sick with sea of questions, ASM does well in this aspect.

I can just tell you that the ASM is extremely clear.

I am just beginnig to study with it, but comparing the first five lessons of the ASM with the last lessons of the ACTEX for FM (the ones that covered the Mc Donald textbook), ASM is way much clearer, comprehensive and developed.

You really do not need to read the Mc Donalds if you use the ASM. The Actex ( for FM) was continually referring to the book (and I did not like it). So, if if the Actex for MFE follows the same explanation methods/development, I would definetely recommend the ASM.

i used actex and derivatives market the 1st time, then bpp the 2nd time. bpp didn't help much more than actex. plus, actex was better at explaining than bpp with better tips. it depends on your preference; i actually like reading textbooks... :geek:
