    Possible Career Changer

    Hello,

I am currently enlisted in the Air Force. I have about two years remaining in my enlistment. I also have been taking full time classes towards a Bachelors in Computer Science, with about one year remaining. Recently I have been reading about the actuarial field, and feel it may be a better match for me than anything software related.

My questions are regarding the degree I have nearly completed. Will it help or hurt to have this degree seeking employment as an actuary? Would I still need a degree in math or statistics to pursue employment? How many exams would I need to pass via self study before I can apply for a job? If I were to complete a degree in math after my current degree, it would make me 28 years old before completing school; is this too old to seek entry level work?

I would really like to finish this degree for the sake of accomplishing something I started. Any guidance as to my best next move for becoming an actuary would be helpful. Thank you.

Check it out, a lot of good info is there. I am also a career changer from engineering and the site has been very helpful along with this forum.

    Good luck
