I just signed up for FM and have 6 weeks to study. Any suggestions?

I just signed up to take SOA Exam FM/2, which leaves me with approximately 6 weeks to learn the material. Are study guides for FM/2 such as ASM, Actex, Yufeng Guo, etc designed to help students study who should have already learned the material from a textbook or college course? Or, do the study guides actually teach the material?

I have not taken any courses in Financial Mathematics, and am trying to determine the best possible route to learn all the FM/2 material in the next 6 weeks. I will basically be living in my college's library from now until Dec 8. :geek:

Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Well, I just ordered the ASM study guide 9th ed. and a BA II Plus Professional calculator.

I want to take it in February. Curious about it, wonder if I can pass.

Well, I'll be taking it in 5-6 weeks for the first time also, but I have some easy advice. Learn your BA 2 Plus Proffessional inside out (Cash flow worksheets, TVM inputs, IRR, Amortization worksheets, everything.)

I had an Interest Theory course in college and did not realize how much easier it'd have been if I'd understood all the tricks of this calculator. The text book and study guide (Actex) I have both show how to calculate using it, I would not skip those sections if I were you.
