1 exam pass and 2 exams pass

Hi all,

I have a BS degress in Math and minor in computer science with P exam passed (entry level). So far, I had 2 offical phone interviews and I don't get any offers. Yes, It's kind of discourage me a little but I still learnt some good experience.

Some people say between 1 exam passed and 2 exam passed is a big big different. Apply entry level position with 2 exams passed has higher chance than some candidates with 1 exam passed, and 3 exams pass has higer chance than candidates with 2 exams passed...............is it true??

I saw some posts they said you'd better don't pass more than 3 exams if you have no experience. is it true?

I am going to sit for FM in Nov, what do u think if it is possible to take M and FM exam in the same month??? The exam date of Exam M is the day before the FM exam. Or it is very hard?? Or should I wait until next year???

If I can pass 2 exams in a year before I get hired, can I show them I can handle this high exam commitment to the employers by this point?? or they don't really care?? (because I heard you need to pass at least one exam every year after you get hired.)

Regarding M exam and FM in the same time...
In my opinion, those two exams are related in a sence.However, to pass M exam, u have to work really hard, imagine yourself, what is your definition of hardwork, and multiply it by 2, anyway, Fm is not that hard however it requires work too. I would suggest , if i may, that its better to take one exam at a time, and put your 150% in it and be sure that u will pass, then trying to pull out two exams at the same time, and not to be that sure in your success.
I have studied for the whole month , non stop at least 8 hours a day, during those almost 4 weeks, i had maybe one day off from studing. I mean thats a lot of frastration,but at the end it pays off.

Towards the end, either I was getting better at interviewing (I think I was getting a better understanding of what I was looking for in a company and career) or the companies were getting more desperate to hire someone because it was nearing the end of the school year. I really like the place I took a job with, and I was at a point where I would have settled for any job. It all ended up working out for the best.

Don't be so hard on yourself over not getting a job in two interviews. I'm pretty sure my level of frustration was a lot worse than yours after the 15th,

You mean you had three exams passed when you were looking for your first actuarial job from college? I passed P and FM and am going to be a senior, so I think I can still take care of M before I start job hunting. If I may, how many exams to you have now and does the level of pay meet your expectations? Just curious, thanks.

I had about 6 interviews after I passed the P exam, and I haven't had any offer. Also, I realize this field is getting competitive, isn't it? 15-20 interviews before you got the first offer. I can image how frustrate you were because I am getting frustrated already after my fifth interview. However, I can feel my interview skill is improving time by time.

I am taking fm exam in Nov., see if I will get some serious consideration after I pass my second exam.

I forgot that DWSimpson survey includes paid bonus. I'd be at the higher end if I get the expected bonus.

It strikes me a little odd that you passed three exams and you still had to go through 15-20 interviews to get that first job offer. I am thinking, with three exams shouldn't they be BEGGING you to work for them and giving you all sorts of perks? What's going on here?

That's what I was thinking. I've just finished FM and had my first interview for an internship position since I graduate in May. I just found out I got the position and learned it will lead to a fulltime position in the company when I graduate. I guess I just got lucky :X

I've stressed over and over again the importance of good interviewing skills. If you can't interview well, you can have 4 exams passed with a score of '10' and a 4.00 GPA after getting your B.S. in just 2 years and you still won't get a job.
