Hi folks.
My last quarter at college is coming up. I will be taking my first exam (P/1) in January. I wrote my resume with the assumption I will pass P/1, simply because it sounds like it's impossible to get an actuarial job without at least one exam. I won't be sending out this resume until after I take the CBT. I graduate in late March, with any luck I can line up work fairly quickly.
As my resume states, I have two degrees, one in math and one in physics. In the course of my physics degree I ended up taking a class in data analysis. The university describes the course in the following way:
"Introduction to error analysis, data handling, and numerical solution methods in physics using computer programs such as KaleidaGraph, Mathematica, and LabView."
I think this would be something useful to put on my resume. It doesn't seem like actuarial work uses Kaleidagraph or LabView since those programs are more for lab work, but data analysis in general seems important. I am thinking of sticking it into the "professional skills profile" but am having trouble wording it. Maybe "Familiar with basic methods of data analysis" or something along those lines?
How does the resume look by the way? I know I'll only have one exam, the economics VEE, and no experience - but I am also willing to travel pretty much anywhere in the U.S. for work (preferably a big city on the West Coast). The more places I apply the better my odds...
