I am currently finishing up my thesis and I figure rather than get an irrelevant (in terms of actuarial experience) part time job, I would rather propose a voluntary "internship" with a local insurance company. There are only a handful where I am located as it is a lowly populated province. ( I have never heard of any actuarial internship being offered in this province, many barely know what an actuary does). I got wind though that there are a couple or so of actuaries in this city.

Please share your thoughts on if this is a way to go in this competitive actuarial job market in Canada. What do you think is the best way to go about it?
