    Flyout interviews likely?

I live in State College, a small town in the middle of PA. How likely are employers willing to invite me for on-site interviews? I hope to locate a job in CA, Florida or NYC.

My background: BS and MS in math, currently third year Econ PhD, taking P and FM in the coming May.

    Thanks!!!

If you pass their phone screening, they will fly you out for an on-site interview. This is pretty standard.

You're more likely to get interviews with places that are local. The farther you are from home, the more likely you're going to get homesick and run away from your new job. It's different if you can explain how you have ties to the area.

I was flown up to New Hampshire from New York after being screened through a phone interview and I got the impression that this was normal. They reimbursed me for cab fare, gas, food, etc. but I guess it depends on the company.

I've been flown to the west coast from the east coast for an entry-level interview, full expenses paid, including two nights in a $200 hotel. So I don't think anything's out of the question.

To answer your question: Yes. I had onsite interviews with 2 different companies after passing the phone interview with both.
