good study guide for Exam C

    Hello all,
I am thinking of taking exam C this November, and since my company does not sponsor me for the study materials (since I am an intern ), I have to pay everything myself. My pocket money will only allow me to purchase one study materials. So which one do you guys think worth buying? BPP? ASM? Or others? Thanks a lot!

I used BPP for the May exam, and I was satisfied and well prepared for the exam.

But I heard that ASM is very good too... I used their practice exams, and it was a good preparation. Check on ASM website, there is one that you could download freely...

I've heard BPP materials are sometimes too easy for the exam and are too concept-oriented...is that true?

The BPP book problems are not exam-level. The Question & Answer Bank problems are exam level and are part of the study package. My g/f and a coworker of hers both passed Exam M w/BPP and used BPP for C/4 for this sitting. She got 26/40 (good chance of passing) and coworker got 24/40 (decent chance).

I'm going to use ASM and Mahler for C/4, but my company helps out on expenses.

And I used BPP and got 28/40. I suppose that other manuals give the same results?

I used ASM for Exam 4. Actually I used it for Exam 3 as well and used it again because I liked it. They're not to wordy and give you tons of problems so you can get a lot of practise.

    Good luck

Hey everyone, I am new to this Exam C forum. I just passed Exam P after taking it 3 times, but I did pass it finally. I'm a senior in college and my goal is to pass 3 exams during my undergraduate years. I plan to take Exam C this November, and if I fail it, I still can take it in May around the time of graduation. However, I'd really like to pass it the 1st time. I took a Loss Models course last spring, and still have the textbook (Loss Models, 2nd ed, by Klugman, Panjer, and Willmot). I need to buy a manual with practice problems and exams soon so I can start studying. I've used an ASM manual in the past and liked it. Which ones are the best for someone that has already had learned the basics in a course? Thanks.

Wah, I have to say I admire your courage...I mean, with all due respect...taking the exam P 3 times and pass it and thinking taking exam C after without taking at least FM and MLC first? This is just my personal opinion, but I think there is a reason for SOA to put C as the fourth exam of the entire prelimiary exam series....

I have some old Exam C manuals. The syllabus has changed, but the addition can be managed by buying supplement, say from Mahler, or using the materials online from SOA website.

I have ASM, Mahler, and BPP sample questions. (I need to check the editions.) If you are interested, send me a PM and an offer.

PS. I used the above materials to pass the most recent Exam C.
