Smile Less than a month to go for Nov exam

    Team,

Less than a month to go for the exam , feeling nervous, folks how is the preparation going on.

I have finished BPP all the nine chapters , online lectures online practice tests for each chapter I still have to do full length exams from BPP, Actex, Guo and Infinite actuary.

I wrote Actex first exam got 17/30 but attempted only 20 in two 1/2 hours. It was two weeks back .

Will the time be sufficient for all these not sure .still memorizing some key formulas, distributions.
Last night I did chapter 5 (60 questions (question bank from BPP), man I got 40 correct. I am nervous now. Some concepts are still hanging in the air unable to pierce the wall of deceit in these questions.

My weak areas are If they mix concepts like Poisson and binomial, geometric and binomial and some kind Geometric series/ questions and lengthy question which are beyond 5- 7 lines I am lost in the details and generally unable to get the right answer.

Folks please update in this thread any novel approaches for this exam P preparation, I am a first timer but have to clear this exam to get some momentum going in my life.

    Good luck to everyone.
Less than a month to go, exactly 1 attempt , score > 6
what is my density/destiny function :QuestionMark:

It takes lots and lots and lots of practice. I didn't have that much practice the last two sittings. I just finished the manuals with literally days to review prior to taking the exam. "Practice makes perfect" really applies here once you have a solid grasp of the basics. I am still learning every day, although I am doing the same exact problems I have seen numerous times. I've learned that I can take shorter novel approaches to some of the problems. Approaches that I would have been clueless or confused about a few months ago. Advice? Find the shortest route to solving each and every problem. Learn alternative methods to solving the same problem. Leave no problem unsolved. Even if you forget how to solve it or don't understand it fully, eventually it will sink in upon numerous repetitions. Don't worry about not passing (easier said than done), most who take this exam don't pass it the first time around. Once you see what the real exam is like, then you'll get a rough idea how much time you really need to put in to pass it.

27 days until 'day P'... but I'm still caught in studying for midterm exams at school, so I won't be able to really focus all my time on the exam until the end of next week (its a bit ironic that I have to sacrifice study time for exam P to prepare a midterm exam covering material from exam FM!)
Anyhow, Im feeling (somewhat) confident... I've done good on most practice exams from ASM and I want to now take a shot at new questions from another test, before going over all 14 practice exams over again under strict exam conditions. Im going to commit myself completely; its going to be my first shot at P and and I want it to be my last.

Anyway, I'd also recommend to do problems again and again and again. You'll be tired, exhausted and sick of calculating expected values and conditional probabilities, sick of doing the same steps over and over again for similar problems, but at least you'll know exactly how to proceed in the real exam.
    Good luck to all!
    Jo

Vedunar, I also have to really start doing the practice exams, especially under the time constraint. I finished all the chapters of ACTEX and ASM, it was a great combo. I also finished doing the SOA problems, but I really need to go back to make sure I have them down solid. I see that you are in San Pablo. Where are you testing? I live near San Rafael, but have to test in South San Fran.

Good luck to everyone who is studying!

I'm managing starting a new job with studying......I got a 5 last time so a pass is very important. I'm a little rusty in respect to speed and recognition but it will all come back. My goal is to finish each of Dr. O's exams in an hour each and any other practice test. If I can do those in an hour I'd have no problem finishing the exam in 2, even though I am given 3.
