I would say ASM study guide by Harold Cherry.. It worked for me.. I studied about 2 months and I felt very comfortable...
ASM! I can't stress how much that book helped me. I never got one textbook and there wasn't anything on the exam that tricked me. However, if you are going to get one textbook, get the Derivatives book, especially if you haven't taken any courses in finance. It may help to just read it over, since the exam seems focus more on definitions in the derivatives section rather than hard numbers.
I used ASM also, and there was just one question on form2 which I don't think ASM covered, and I probably should have figured it out anyways. I studied about 2 months (first month haphazardly :embarrassed: , second month dedicated), and never had any finance-type classes: all of the material was new to me. I'm pretty sure I passed, but who knows, I may have coded some wrong or something :goofy:
Every week I post a free exercise at this forum to give you a taste of the manual I wrote. Have a look at those weekly exercises and decide for yourself if my work is for you. My FM Manual comes from New England Actuarial Seminars, but you can buy it from Actex, Actuarial Bookstore, or Slide Rule Books, as well. As always, I answer questions concerning my manuals submitted via e-mail. Note that my FM Manual has 12 practice exams, and I believe that is the highest number in the market.
Yours sincerely,
Krzys' Ostaszewski

ASM, all the way for FM.
Give it two months, and you'll feel confident come exam day.
And when you exhaust all the problems, drop by Dr. Krysio and Sam Broverman's exercise threads for more problems.
Hex~
Good luck to those taking their exams.
yeah i really liked the asm manual. would recommend it to anyone
I was wondering which guide to buy, since I'm pretty sure I'm not passing the exam
I was thinking about getting the ASM, and based on the comments I think it's a good choice.
