    (Exam P)Preliminary pass/fail or ...

I just took Exam P for the first time on the 19th and my print out reads, "A preliminary analysis of your test results shows that you were not successful in achieving the passing score established by the SOA/CAS/CIA for Exam P/1. Your examination responses will be verified by the SOA/CAS/CIA and your official score report will be mailed to you in approximately five to six weeks."

Does this mean I failed or did I just not score high enough to reach the preliminary pass mark?

Sorry, but it means you did not make it. Can anybody who already passed write the unofficial result message he or she received on the computer after taking the exam regarding pass /fail ? It is just congratulations, you pass or what??? Is the message as long as the one above?

It is exactly like what TAD posted for those who fail. For those who pass, there is a "Congratulations" before the sentence, and the "not successful" is changed to "successful".

Best advice I can give: if you fail, don't be upset-just keep studying as usual, but if you pass celebrate a whole lot because it can be a huge accomplishment. Also, try to stay relaxed while taking the test. After sitting for three tests now, I have decided that I waste too much time getting tense and worrying when I think things are going wrong. Good luck on Monday!

    Good luck, Zahrak.

I would just make sure you feel comfortable with all the equations I'm sure you've been studying already. And don't waste too much time on any one question. Do the ones you know first, and come back to the ones you get stuck on. You can always guess if you have very little time left.

One thing I wish I had done was know moment generating functions better. They were my main area of weakness. Granted, I passed, and I'm quite relieved and happy about that of course, but I could have made things a lot less stressful for myself by familiarizing myself with moment generating functions better.

my information is "congratulations! a preliminary analysis of your test results shows that you were successful in achieving the passing score established by the SOA/CAS/CIA and your official score report will be mailed to you in approximately five to six weeks.
