hey Chichi, you coming to waterloo this Fall ? What program? Wanna study for the exams together?![]()
I wouldn't even think twice about that decision: go to Berkeley. If you are sure you won't want grad school afterwards, it is better to have a degree from Berkeley. If you do go to grad school afterwards, either school would be just as good to have an undergrad degree from. So unless there is some reason you hate the west coast so much, choose UCBJust IMO...
Actually, if I went to grad school I'd probably choose Berkeley instead.
Waterloo has a 5-year co-op program so by the time I graduate I would've had 2 years of real work experience, and most likely already a job lined up for me in Act. Sci.
While we're on the topic, it seems that everyone thinks a master's degree is a waste of time. Will it be any good if there was a lot of competition in the field? Should I get one after I finish all my exams maybe?
@tpgh2510 I'm going for Actuarial Science co-op. =P And sure, at least I'll know one person when I get there, haha. I think I plan to take calc and statistics first semester if I can and study and take the p/1 exam in Feb, since I already took AP Stats and the practice test for P/1 didn't seem hard except for some of the fancy calc formulas for calculating stuff.
for first year math, you'll have to take the basic, and predetermined courses. You cant take STAT in first year. I'll probably be marking your math assignments. Plus you cant be in actsci in first year. You can only apply to major in Actsci starting second year.
why cant take stat?
i took stat 101 in comm college in my first semester.
now (2nd semester),,im taking calc2.
i skip calc1 cause i had it in HS.
im planning to take P next nov, while taking calc3.
which on is easier,,FM/P?
i havent take any finance classes..so i assume P is easier.:rolleye:
sorry, i was talking to chichi. Thats how it is at UWaterloo. Actually, you can take it in 2nd semester.
Oh, so first year is predetermined courses? I know major is declared second year.
I took AP Statistics already (5) so I was hoping just to do some reviewing and then take P/1 in Feb, still planning on that.
Wait, so if you're going to be grading my assignments, how am I suppose to study with you, you're ahead of me... o.O
Do you know if some people have taken p/1 by their first co-op term already (summer 1st year)? I'm hoping they don't and I can use that to distinguish myself, and if most people have taken p/1 already I'll probably study FM on my own and take that in May as well.
AP statistics will not get you near a passing score for exam p. You need to know calculus based probability which is not covered on the AP statistics test.
