I used the BPP study manual but only for a couple of days before the test since a friend let me borrow it. I had a probability class at school which prepared me for about 75% of the material. I solidified what I learned in that class by doing the practice problems on the SOA website over and over and over. I would not recommend the BPP manual, but it was good enough to fill in the last pieces of information before I took the test. All of that was good enough for an 8. Hope that helps.
