Hi everyone! My first time here! I graduated from Rutgers ('04) w/ a B.S. Astrophyics. I then contracted at IBM as a chemical engineer and decided lab work was not for me!! i am taking exam P this fall, and hopefully FM soon after! I'm hoping that I can find an actuarial job related to catastrophe analysis in NY/NJ...maybe even specifically to geological or weather related events...if such a job even exists!!?? what does everyone think?!?!?

Cat modeling seems not only actuarial, but engineering, I feel.

I know that I am quite late in answering this thread. There are opportunities available as you want. Companies like AIR worldwide, RMS & Equecat, which work in the catastrophe modeling.
