    You need to be a lot more descriptive. Statistics is a huge subject, do you need help with statistics starting with how to find arithmetic average of 3 numbers through measure theory through....?

    For definitions, consult your textbook or internet. Wikipedia is one such place: http://wikipedia.org/ you can find what expected value is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expected_value Have you read that and still don't understand it? If so, then which part is confusing?
