    What is the difference between a buy side trading firm and sell side trading firm?

    A "sell side" firm is a broker-dealer (G oldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley) who sells securities to its customers (individuals, corporations, mutual/hedge funds, goverments, etc). A "buy side" firm is one of those customers.
