Homework problem help involving force of mortality, joint life probability

I've attached an image of the question I've been working on and can't seem to solve.

I'm having trouble just understanding the question. If Ford has a 50% chance of failing within the next two years, does that mean 2p0 for Ford is 1/2? And how would I use that information to find the force of mortality in the first two years?
