Description
The Divisional Director, Experience Analysis is responsible for global experience analysis and assumption setting for all of the Division’s product lines. They will lead the development of robust experience studies, data, and systems, developing the organization’s understanding of risk.
This position requires expertise in actuarial science, data analysis, experience analysis, problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills. This position reports to the Divisional Vice President, Pricing.
This is a remote position that can work from anywhere within the United States or Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality and completeness of experience analysis and assumption setting to support both new business and inforce teams.
- Work cross-functionally to evolve existing experience study processes, maximizing the value of available data and implementing robust controls.
- Develop and validate experience studies for mortality and policyholder behavior to support evolving pricing bases, client RFPs, and inforce modeling, using up-to-date industry practices, including predictive modeling.
- Utilize deep understanding of mortality to integrate learnings from internal experience with industry trends to improve organization’s understanding of risk.
- Analyze mortality and policyholder behavior trends across regions using up-to-date analysis.
- Research and implement innovative methods of understanding risk and volatility and embed within the organization.
- Collaborate with model owners to understand impact of assumption updates.
- Develop BI tools that lead to decisioning and engage with management in recommending actions.
- Contribute to a robust actuarial framework including sound assumption setting for the assessment of risk.
- Follow actuarial standards of practice.
- Ad hoc activities related to your role as determined
Requirements
- FSA or FCIA designation
- 7 or more years of actuarial experience in the reinsurance industry
- Strong experience with statistical computing software (e.g. R, Python) and predictive models
- Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills that allow for deep actuarial analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
- Strong work ethic, proactivity, professionalism and decision-making skills
- Data analytics knowledge is preferred
