The Department/Team

We are a team of consultants with deep actuarial subject matter expertise in individual life and annuity insurance industry. Combined with our expertise in technology, financial modeling and analysis, this enables us to provide our clients with advanced analytics and insights required to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business, and to make informed decisions.

Your Role/What You’ll Do
This is a newly created role and is essential to the growth of the Chicago life consulting practice. A successful candidate will serve as a deep subject-matter expert on actuarial experience to support a range of consulting projects and research initiatives of the practice. Example of expected activities include:
  • Conduct research and maintain comprehensive knowledge of sources of life insurance and annuity experience data and analysis available from Milliman and the life industry more generally (e.g. SOA). Leverage information to provide internal consultants and external clients with insights and support for assumptions development.
  • Develop thought leadership pieces (e.g. research papers, articles, presentation materials, internal and external webinars) and maintain active presence at industry events, relevant working groups (e.g. ILEC or AEC) and internal seminars.
  • Work as part of project teams on sell-side and buy-side M&A assignments to facilitate analysis client’s data and experience studies.
  • Advance practice’s capabilities in data science, predictive modeling techniques and data visualization.

Your Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, or a similar mathematical or quantitative program of study.
  • FSA with 5+ years of actuarial experience in a related role
  • Data analytics and visualization experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated individual with a results-oriented work ethic and the ability to build strong working relationships with peers

  • Experience with BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau)
  • Financial modeling experience is a plus
  • Ability to analyze and apply creative problem solving both independently and within a team
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where the client is always first
