Company History
Greater New York Insurance Companies are leading providers of middle market property and casualty insurance focusing on commercial real estate, including condominiums, co-op apartment buildings, office buildings, restaurants, light manufacturing, and other small to mid-size commercial establishments.
The lead company was formed as a mutual insurance company in 1914 as an outgrowth of a real estate trade association servicing New York City property owners. Now, close to 100 years after its founding, the Company operates in 15 states through a wide network of independent insurance producers.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
GNY is about to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
In 2013, A.M. Best Company affirmed the A+ (Superior) Policyholders’ Rating of our four operating companies, a designation bestowed on less than 9% of all property and casualty insurance companies.
GNY is the third largest writer of commercial multi-peril in New York and the fifth largest writer in New Jersey.
